Requesting Articles - Overview & Policies

1. Are you using a library workstation? If so, speak to a librarian for assistance before submitting the form. We may be able to suggest some helpful alternatives.

2. This service is provided for library users with a current library card. Please be sure to bring your card to your community library when picking up your items.

3. ILL items may be renewed according to the GCPL borrowing policy.

4. The GCPL pays lending fees for ILL materials up to a certain amount per item. Additional costs must be paid by the requesting patron. Patrons are notified of charges in advance and may choose to cancel the request rather than pay.

5. If an item is returned late or is lost, the following charges will be assessed:

• Overdue fines: /day per item; per item maximum.
• Lost or non-returned items: Replacement cost per the lending library plus .

6. All borrowers are responsible for ILL fines; even those with "fine free" status.

7. What is not available through ILL:

• Items in special collections
• Most genealogical materials
• Some CDs/DVDs/videos/books on tape
• Telephone directories
• Reference books
• Complete issues of periodicals or newspapers
• Current best sellers
• Publications within 6 months of publication date
• Materials that the GCPL owns, even it if they are non-circulating

NOTICE: The copyright law of the United States (Title 17 U.S. code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives a re authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
