Perhaps you are going a little stir crazy with the seemingly endless cold, grey weather outside. The library has some new crafts books that could help fill the time before spring. Some are new books about traditional crafts, and others are new ideas. Click on the title or the image to place a request on your choice.

The Crafter’s Guide to Glue: Techniques & Projects, by Pattie Donham. The variety of projects in this book is astounding. A little glue, some fabric or paper and even an old recliner can get a facelift.

Make Your Own Playdough, Paint and Other Craft Materials: Easy Recipes to Use with Young Children, by Patricia Caskey. This would be a great book for homeschoolers or snow days. You can find a recipe to suit anyone.

Re-Creative: 50 Projects for Turning Found Items into Contemporary Design, by Steve Dodds. Start with a trip to the attic, garage or local thrift store, then use this book to turn the junk you find into fabulous crafts and useful items!

Fleece Dog: A Little Bit of Magic Created with Raw Wool and a Special Needle, by Sinco. This book is amazing! The little puppies you can create following these instructions could turn out to look almost lifelike. You can make tiny little replicas of your best friend.

If you don’t find anything that appeals to you in this list, one of the librarians on staff publishes a newsletter about the new craft books available in the library on a regular basis. You can subscribe to this newsletter (also known as a bookletter) by email here. Follow the directions in the blue box for subscribing - the bookletter is called “Contemporary Crafting.” Keep an eye out, and maybe something more to your liking will come in.
