Child getting a book off of a book shelf

What is a Classroom Collection?

  • Collections of children's materials which may be borrowed from any of our community libraries on your personal library card or on a teacher's card.
  • Classroom collections supplement and enhance the resources of the school media center.

How May I Borrow One?

Library staff will prepare collections of books according to your needs for specific reading or age levels, subject areas, or general browsing interests. A reasonable number of books may be borrowed, but it may be necessary for the Librarian to restrict certain subject areas.

When requesting a collection, you must give the librarian your library card barcode number so that the collection can be checked out ahead of time. Your library card must be presented when you pick up the collection. Please be prepared to carry your own classroom collection.

How Long May I Keep It?

  • The loan period for classroom collections is six weeks.
  • The loan period may be renewed one time for three weeks.

To aid in record keeping, you may request a computer printout of the items in your collection at the time they are borrowed. Teachers are subject to fees as are other library users.
